Change at the top of RUAG Business Aviation
After navigating Business Aviation through a successful turnaround, Beat Höhener, since 2009 Vice President of RUAG Business Aviation and a member of the RUAG Aviation board of management, has decided to hand over the reins to an expert with a proven track record in the industry, effective 1 July 2011. His successor has been named as Michael Sattler, currently Senior Vice President of Maintenance at Jet Aviation in Basel.
"Beat Höhener has demonstrated exceptional commitment in his role as turnaround manager by succeeding to stabilise and reposition Business Aviation in a challenging environment. The job is now to strengthen its position in the international marketplace and further leverage its growth potential.
To achieve that, we have secured the services of Michael Sattler of Jet Aviation, a worthy successor," comments Philipp Berner, CEO of RUAG Aviation.
Beat Höhener has successfully held the posts of CFO and CIO at RUAG Aerospace and of VP at RUAG Business Aviation. The intention is to provide him with another operational role within RUAG in the next few months. In a transition phase he will act as Vice President of Strategy and Development for RUAG Holding AG, in which role he will report direct to Lukas Braunschweiler. His remit will be to strengthen RUAG's position in domestic and international markets and leverage corresponding growth opportunities. Beat Höhener will continue to manage the Business Aviation site in Geneva until such time as a suitable Site Manager has been identified and hired.
Michael Sattler, a German national, is an aerospace engineer with familiarity of the civilian and military aviation sector. As a regular soldier and technical officer he worked for six years for NATO on cross-national projects with personnel from 16 countries, during which time he learned a great deal about process planning, quality assurance and the maintenance, repair and overhaul of military aircraft. He is also familiar with the private and business jet business through his 15 years-plus spent at industry leaders Jet Aviation. He has served in a variety of capacities with that company, most recently as Senior Vice President of Maintenance in Basel. Prior to that, Michael Sattler and his team managed successfully to turn the subsidiary in Singapore around within 12 months. Michael Sattler is keen to lay stress on adopting practical approaches and remaining close to the customer.
