Company culture as a factor for success
RUAG is striving for a company culture that promotes independent action and a working environment characterized by trust, appreciation and professionalism. The result is that employees really identify with the company. This is reflected firstly in long periods of service and secondly in the continued employment of a large number of apprentices.
Cultural transformation
RUAG’s code of conduct serves as the basis for cultural transformation. The consistent strengthening of compliance and a clear zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct support this process. The 2025 employee satisfaction survey shows a slight improvement over the previous year, with an overall rating of 4.4 points (rating range from 1 to 5). The behavior of managers, cross-divisional cooperation and cost-conscious actions received particularly positive ratings, while there is still room for improvement with regard to processes and structures as well as the perceived added value of SAP S/4HANA. In order to support the transformation further, several campaigns were launched during the reporting year, including training courses for employees and managers.
Employees: facts and figures
The number of employees has increased compared to the previous year and now stands at 2,931 (excluding apprentices, 2,765 in full-time equivalents / FTE). The number of full-time positions remained stable overall.
RUAG managed to reduce net fluctuation to 6.9 % in 2025 (previous year: 9.2 %). On average, employees remain with the company for 9.9 years – a key factor in retaining knowledge and experience in the long term.
RUAG places particular emphasis on providing attractive and competitive employment conditions. During the reporting year, 2.4 % of the salary total was used to improve employment conditions. This includes, among other things, a general salary increase of 1.1 % and a one-off payment of 0.5 %. 0.8 % of the salary total was used to implement the newly introduced RUAG functional architecture.
Successful vocational training
RUAG provides training for 222 apprentices in 15 different professions. And with great success: In the summer of 2025, 50 apprentices completed their training. The transfer rate to further employment was 73 % (previous year: 67 %). RUAG is thus succeeding in promoting young talent and seamlessly integrating it into the company. In August, 63 new apprentices (excl. external apprentices) began their training at RUAG. Another highlight with regard to vocational training came at the Swiss vocational championships SwissSkills in Bern. Six RUAG apprentices qualified for the championships – two of them even securing a gold and a bronze medal.
«YOUNG SPIRIT»: RUAG APPRENTICES BUILD AN AIRCRAFT
The “Young Spirit” training project was launched in spring 2025. Around 70 apprentices from 13 professional groups are working together to build a small aircraft. The project is all about independent personal responsibility and interdisciplinary collaboration.
