Swiss Association for Environmental Simulation Visits RUAG in Thun

On October 29 and 30, RUAG welcomed the Swiss Association for Environmental Simulation (SVU) to its test laboratories in Thun. Participants gained insights into RUAG’s testing facilities and procedures and took the opportunity to engage in professional discussions.

The Swiss Association for Environmental Simulation (SVU) connects companies, research institutions, and experts in the fields of environmental simulation, materials testing, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Its focus is on professional exchange, the advancement of knowledge, and the promotion of common quality and safety standards.

For this year’s event, the venue was moved from the originally planned location in Olten to Thun. This allowed for optimized organizational costs while also providing participants with direct insights into the work of RUAG’s test laboratories.

Insights into Testing Capabilities

A key focus of the event was a tour of the various test facilities and a presentation of the testing methods used. These included EMC test benches for verifying electromagnetic compatibility, as well as facilities for temperature, humidity, and corrosion testing. In addition, vibration and shock tests were demonstrated, which simulate real-world operating conditions.

The program was complemented by presentations on specialized measurement systems and technical lectures on environmental simulation and electromagnetic compatibility. The hands-on demonstrations gave participants the opportunity to exchange experiences and gain new insights to apply to their work.

Such tests make an important contribution to the reliability, safety, and service life of technical systems. They are an essential component of quality assurance, particularly in the aerospace, defense, and other safety-critical sectors.

Professional Exchange as a Key Component

In addition to showcasing RUAG’s testing capabilities, the event focused on exchanges with experts from industry and research. Such encounters promote knowledge transfer, enable the early identification of future requirements, and strengthen collaboration within the industry.

The event offered RUAG the opportunity to showcase its expertise in testing and inspection procedures, maintain existing contacts, and gain new insights for the further development of its services.

The visit to SVU in Thun once again highlighted the importance of personal exchange and collaboration across company boundaries.
