Preliminary accompanying measures in the PC-7 value retention program completed

The preliminary accompanying measures in the PC-7 WE value retention program have been completed on schedule. For over 40 years, the Pilatus PC-7 has formed the backbone for the basic training of the Swiss Air Force. The program aims to ensure the suitability of the fleet of 27 aircraft for deployment in the long term.

Alongside the original manufacturer, Pilatus, we are responsible for the implementation of the program as a comprehensive technical partner. The completion of the preliminary accompany measures marks a central milestone, laying the foundation for the subsequent value retention and modernization phase.

Within the scope of this project phase, a total of 27 PC-7 aircraft were successfully modified and handed over to the Air Force. Fourteen of these aircraft were modified at our Lodrino facility, and 13 others by Pilatus in Stans.

To ensure the training organization at all times, we and Pilatus relied on a precisely coordinated implementation schedule with a maximum of four aircraft being modified simultaneously. At the same time, we optimized internal processes, including by developing a template for the preparation of the cable ducts, which reduced installation times and increased process quality. In addition, a standardized incoming flight was introduced by our factory pilots to identify faults at an early stage and to further optimize the service life of the aircraft.

Cooperation with Pilatus, armasuisse and the armasuisse test pilots was efficient and constructive throughout the entire project phase.

The production prototype built by Pilatus for the value retention program is ready for the test flight phase at armasuisse. The aircraft will then be handed over to the Air Force for military flight tests. Upon successful completion, the entire PC-7 fleet will be modernized as part of the value retention program – half by us, and half by Pilatus.

With the successful completion of the preliminary accompanying measures, we underscore our role as a reliable technology partner of the Swiss Armed Forces. The PC-7 WE value retention program lays the foundation for the running of a reliable training organization for the Swiss Air Force until at least 2040.
