Create forward-thinking hardware solutions as a design engineer

Do you have technical talent? With us, you will learn how to create forward-thinking hardware solutions. Design engineers develop, model and design mechanical devices, machine and apparatus components - from aircraft parts to special tools. Drawing is carried out on the computer using modern 3D CAD software.

If you are interested in drawing and developing various components of machines, apparatus and everyday objects, then an apprenticeship at RUAG is right for you. Our design engineers draw on the computer using modern 3D CAD software. In doing so, they create new developments or carry out modification work on existing equipment.

Your apprenticeship will last four years. During this time, you will learn everything you need to know to become a design engineer.

Skills

For this apprenticeship, you must have an interest in technology, an elementary school diploma at Real or Secondary level, technical understanding, spatial imagination and enjoy mathematics.

Future opportunities

The following options are available to you after completion of your apprenticeship with us: Mechanical Engineering Technician HF, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

What we offer you

As a design engineer at RUAG, you have the opportunity to accompany a development from conception through design to production. Among other things, as a design engineer, your tasks also include creating documents for production and assembly. These contain product descriptions, technical data and operating and maintenance instructions.

You have completed compulsory school with high requirements and are convincing with your good performance in geometry, mathematics and physics. In addition, you have an interest in technical contexts and mechanics. You have a good ability to imagine things spatially and work accurately and carefully.
