The former two-story operations and storage building at the Thun ammunition factory has been completely and sustainably renovated. With the exception of the existing structural framework, the building—originally constructed in 1916—has undergone a fundamental transformation. This includes new windows, modern building services—including a photovoltaic system—and a comprehensive security infrastructure. As an extension of the C5I campus, the building offers over 100 IT workstations with additional meeting and focus workrooms within a highly secure infrastructure. RUAG employees were able to move into the new office space as scheduled at the end of April 2026.
With the comprehensive renovation of the historic Building 771—which began in spring 2025 and was completed on schedule—RUAG Real Estate has reached another milestone in the Tryber project. An important construction project was already completed in 2024 with the renovation of the old cartridge factory. By 2032, a new, modern, and sustainable neighborhood with a wide variety of uses is set to emerge around the Uttigenstrasse site.
« With the renovation of this historic building, we are marking another milestone in the development of the Tryber Quarter. Our goal is clear: we are making long-term investments in the quality of our properties to enhance the appeal of the workspaces and to gradually develop the site. »
C5I Campus
The C5I Campus in Thun serves as an innovation hub for highly secure, complex IT systems and offers a unique testing and integration environment. Thanks to the modular architecture—from the buildings and rooms to the IT platform—a changing environment can be anticipated with agility. The resulting ecosystem of companies focuses on the end-to-end digitalization of the «sensor, communications, command, and effects network» (SNFW), thereby creating clear added value for the Swiss Armed Forces.
