Marco

As a Supervisor F-5, I work on the high-performance aircraft operated by the Swiss Air Force – a job that challenges and fascinates me on a daily basis. My journey in the field of aviation began with the polymechanic apprenticeship, which I completed in 2012. Since 2016, I have served as an aircraft mechanic at RUAG, working on the F-5. Particularly in the beginning, it was a special and fascinating feeling to be so close to the aircraft. Over time you become more accustomed to the routine – and yet: When there’s a Tiger on the flight line after a few weeks’ work and we are handing the aircraft over to the pilot, this feeling always comes rushing straight back. In that moment when it lifts off and climbs high into the air, it’s a combination of excitement, fascination, and pride. This environment that RUAG provides is something truly special.

What I particularly enjoy about my training as a computer technician at RUAG is the variety. I have the opportunity to collaborate on interesting projects and events, especially within the area of IT. This means I can continually expand my knowledge. I am really motivated when I see that my developments are helping others and producing real benefits. One particular highlight for me were the introductory days for apprentices in Eriz. There, I got to know many people from different areas of RUAG and acquired wonderful experiences – especially with regard to how much can be achieved when you work as part of a team. The sense of togetherness is also central for me in my everyday working life: there is always someone who has your back or can help you out, regardless of what you are working on.

Hi everyone. I have been working as a logistics employee at RUAG in Lodrino for two years and this is something I am very proud of. What’s more: It is the most interesting and most satisfying professional experience that I have ever had. Actually enjoying your work is just fantastic. I have a wonderful 5-year-old daughter and, thanks to the flexible working hours, I can be present at all of the important moments in her life. This is something I am very grateful for.

I work as a Configuration Item Manager at the Alpnach site. My core duties include setting up SAP numbers – in order that we can procure third-party equipment –linking them with the associated documents and maintaining master data as a decentralized Item Manager for the helicopter flight systems. I am also a company paramedic and, together with my colleagues, provide a one-week on-call service four times a year. I have been living in Germany since June 2024. This of course brings challenges – especially when it comes to the planning of my work and my activity as a company paramedic. However, right from the beginning, my supervisor has supported me in pulling everything together. RUAG’s willingness to accommodate me is something that I really appreciate. It also motivates me to give my best, each and every day – for our customers in the Swiss Air Force and Armed Forces Logistics Organization and for our third-party customers.

Just over three years ago, I was warmly welcomed into the RUAG family. Since then I have already witnessed a number of exciting changes in the area of finance – including the introduction of LucaNet. As an aviation fan, arriving into the office in Emmen is something I look forward to every time. For at precisely 8.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m., you can hear the jets flown by the Swiss Armed Forces starting up. The imposing USA Hercules transport aircraft that land here as part of the Artemis project are a special highlight. This is something that you definitely don’t see and hear every day!

In August 2022, I took up my position as Department Lead BKZ (Operational Competence Center) within the Business Unit C2I+ in Thun. Since April 2025, I have taken on the role of Director Operations C5I and, alongside my team, I am responsible for the smooth operation and provision of support for all IT systems at C5I, and also for our customers within the Swiss Armed Forces and the Federal Administration. After two decades in various IT positions in the Federal Administration, including in the DDPS and also as a former conscript officer, I particularly value the direct communication with our customers. Whether this is within the context of regular customer meetings or in bilateral discussions. The spirit and the teamwork that I experience on a daily basis motivate me and are my driving force.
