In 2025, RUAG once again attended several graduation ceremonies at various universities and presented the RUAG Student Innovation Award to bachelor's degree graduates who demonstrated a particular spirit of innovation. A total of eight RUAG Student Innovation Awards, each worth CHF 1,000, were presented in German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland and in Ticino. The awards were given to bachelor's theses in technical fields of study that impressed with both a high degree of innovation and their relevance to security issues. Regardless of any direct connection to the company, RUAG is committed to actively promoting and recognizing the innovative spirit of young people in Switzerland.
As part of the RUAG Innovation Forum on November 27, 2025, a pitching competition was held in which the audience was allowed to vote. An additional audience prize of CHF 2,000 was awarded to this year's winners. This went to Alexander Rütti and Cyrill Löffel from the Bern University of Applied Sciences. Their final project, “IoT for Water Management,” shows how the security of water supply can be improved through targeted demand management. To this end, the students developed a system consisting of sensors, a gateway, a database, and a visualization unit. The consumption data is not only recorded, but also presented in a playful way and made directly visible via a traffic light display.
« Innovation and security are inextricably linked. That is why it is important to us to recognize young talents whose outstanding bachelor's theses make an innovative contribution to security-related issues in Switzerland. »
