RUAG consolidates it position as national security partner

The Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS, German: VBS) supports the RIGI project. Four of the total of 36 F-35 type fighter aircraft ordered for Switzerland are to un-dergo final assembly and testing by RUAG, at the Emmen site. Tests will be carried out to determine how RUAG can develop into a European center for military aviation.

With the execution of the RIGI project, RUAG is taking on a central role in a future-oriented Swiss air defense initiative. The company has the opportunity to position itself sustainably within the military aviation environment.

In recent months, RUAG has managed to demonstrate that the skills, resources and structures required to successfully and sustainably realize the project are all in place.

Through the final assembly and testing of four F-35 fighter aircraft, RUAG is developing important security-relevant expertise in the areas of operation, servicing and maintenance. This knowledge means that the operational readiness of the Swiss Air Force can be guaranteed in the long term, while significantly reinforcing the security of Switzerland.

« The RIGI project is a milestone for RUAG and for Switzerland. With the expansion of F-35 competences in Emmen, we are making a crucial contribution to the security and defensive capability of our country. At the same time, we are securing highly qualified jobs and consistently developing our expertise in the area of jet engines. The fact that we have earned this trus from Lockheed Martin, the US government, armasuisse and the DDPS represents strong acknowledgement of RUAG's operational capability. The RIGI project serves as the ideal complement to the ambitious strategy set out by our Air division. »
